Abstract

The subject of this article is Eczā-yi Lokmān Ḥekīm, whose periodand author is unknown. This work, which consists of 140 pages, isregistered in the Vatican Library, The Catalog of Turkish ManuscriptWorks, number 430. As a matter of fact, it is also possible to finddetailed horoscope and talisman information about the subject inthat medical text. This medical text, which is located in the VaticanLibrary, is very important for Turkish language studies in the featuresof language and spelling, vocabulary (the terms of medicine, the namesof plants, animals, drug, stone, mine and the information and specialwords of talisman, Turkish verbs). In addition, the work also containsdata for different branches of science, like other medical texts.According to our researches, that Turkish medicine text writtenin the Arabic characters is absent both in the book of History of TheLiterature of Medical Sciences During in Ottoman Period and also in thecatalog of The Manuscript Books in the Republic of Turkey Ministry ofCulture and Tourism, which contains the most comprehensive resourcesregarding medical texts. Therefore, it is considered that the study is of aquality that would contribute to studies related to Turkish medical texts.
