Abstract

The compound sentences with ki in the work "Envârü'l Hikem" registered at number 11876 in Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences Abu Reyhan Al-Biruni Orientalism Institute Manuscript Library are examined in this article. This prosaic work, which was written between 16th and 17th centuries with Eastern Turkish and belongs to the post-Classical period of Chagatai Turkish, consists of a total of 165 wisdoms. In the study, first of all, a brief introduction of the work, language features and expressions applied for the concretization of the narrative were included; then the compound sentences with ki were examined in detail. These sentences; classified according to the situation of the auxiliary sentence(s) in the main sentence and attention was drawn to the preferred modal suffixes in the examples where the auxiliary sentence(s) was a direct element of the main sentence. The structure with kerek ki as a result of the use of the expression of necessity in the description and explanation sentences is another issue which is examined.
