Definition Proposal for the Term “Lighthouse”

Abstract
Alogicalstructure for the definition of terms describing navigational aids used by seafarers has been developed, explicitly defined and results have been submitted by official/scientific publications. However, it has been determined that there is no an adequate definition for lighthouses. Taking into account the descriptive deficiencies identified in lighthouses, a revised system of nomenclature solves the problems raised when attempting to classify navigational aids. In this study, a definition research has been carried out that can cover all the functionality of a lighthouse, together with the most effective form of construction. Nevertheless, it will take time for all interested parties to reach a complete consensus on the results of such a study, but it is considered that a consistent exchange of information can be achieved by sharing the proposal produced as a result of this study between those who agree to use it.
