Abstract

The family names of every nation carry the imprint of history and register the namesof the geniuses in history.In this way some of the Bulgarian family names give information about the pastand the present of the Bulgarian nation. Some family names and their formation stillkeep their own features.The article describes Bulgarian family names that have come from Turkish andhave gone through a lot of phonetic changes. The Bulgarian nation was under Ottomanrule for a very long time, for that reason in Bulgarian there are still family nameswhich carry the characteristics of that time.
