Abstract

Phonetics and Etymology" The matter of semantic field of Turkic words is one ofthe most significant and vital questions of the Tirkic linguistics. There is a connectionbetween the words "çekiç" using in Turkish and Uzbek languages in spite of expressingdifferent meanings of these words in aforesaid two languages. That connectioncomes to light as a concept of beating while carrying out research into etymons ofthese words. Also was revealed that the following words which were examined from the point of concept of beating were derived from the word "tokı" used in Old Turkiclanguage in meaning "to beat"; and the derivatives suffered to many phonetic changes;these derivatives may connect with their root and each other inside the frame ofthe concept of beating: in Old Turkic tokuş, sokuş, soğuş; in Turkish savaş, tokmak,tokaç, çekiç, dövdü, döveç, döven, değirmen; in Uzbek çekiç/çäkiç, çökiç, çokmar andin Karakalpak şökkiş.
