Abstract

The fabulations of the vampire beliefs and occurrences came to a head in East Prussia in the first half of the 18th century. These narrations had a great impact on Europe and in the course of time vampirism became the subjects of the gothic literature. The blood sucking monsters continue to figure as major characters in the literatere, cinema and computer games of today, but the interest in the etymology of the word vampire is poor. In this article, I tried to explain the etymology of the word vampire considering the previous etymological explanations
