Abstract

Because of the poetic expressions, proverbs and idioms in the Old Turkic inscriptions, these runic inscriptions are not only historical sources but also important literary works. These inscriptions differ from the other inscriptions written on stone in this literary aspect. All nomadic societies have the tradition of oral and written narration of historical events in a literary form.
