THE GRAMMATICAL GENDER AND THE SEXIST VOCABULARY, IDIOMS AND PROVERBS IN TURKISH AND RUSSIAN

Abstract
There are a great number of languages in the world which makes it essential forlanguages to be categorized into groups depending on their language families. Itis normal for languages to bear some linguistic differences. These differences mayoccur in aspects like morphology and syntax. Russian belongs to the Slavic groupof the Indo-European languages. Turkish belongs to the Altaic family group. In thisstudy Turkish grammar and English grammar were investigated in general terms.A semi-structured interview was held with a native speaker of Russian who is alsoa second language learner of Turkish. The interviewer was asked about the sexistwords, idioms and proverbs in her language and similarities and differences betweenthe findings were determined.
