Abstract

The language which has been the most important eans of communication forpeople has not only enabled the cooperation between the people but also transferredthe knowledge, traditions, religions and developments from one generation to anotherfor centuries.The Turkish language which is one of the basic dynamics has been spoken indifferent parts of the world. Turkish has always interacted with other languages.Thanks to its historical background and its widely usage , there has always beentransitions of words between Turkish and other languages. Besides lending Turkishwords to other languages, Turkish has become a brigde and transferred some wordsfrom one language to another with the help of Turkish phonology.As a result of the linguistic studies that have started in the 19th century andincreased in the 20th century, nearly 9000 Turkish words have been detected inSerbian. Even though different types of statistical data according to the era andconcept of the studies, this data has proven that Serbian is the language which hasborrowed words from Turkish most.In this study, among the Slavic languages Serbian is the one which has borrowedTurkish words most and it is explained how to teach Turkish to " foreigners" withthe help of these Turkish words. In some of the basic principles of teaching a foreignlanguage; from known to unknown, from easy to hard, from simple to complex, it isaimed to show how to be successful in teaching Turkish by the Turkish words withsample lists. In other words , it is aimed to demonstrate that the words and grammerstructures can easily and permanently be taught with the help of these lists functioningas student dictionary.
