Abstract

The issue of case regarding conjugation of nouns in Turkish has not been scrutinizedin detail. Researchers have not been able to give a specific and exact answerabout how many cases there are in Turksih and criteria regarding determiming thesystem of cases have not been shed on light. However, case that can be regarded as asheer relation between noun and verb is inevitable for a sentence. In addition, case isof paramount importance to verbs, gerunds, nouns derived from verbs and even nounsassociating verbs. Abstract verbs that gain concretenss and "reality" through caseshave been conceptualized with the term actant. Identifying verb-actant, gerund-actantand noun-actant are necessary especially for syntax studies.
