Abstract

In the article, the common verbs; kes-(cut), yar-(hack), biç-(mow), çap-(cut up),çal-(steal / strike) etc. used commonly in Turkish of Turkmen and Turkey, and verbswhich state the motion of cut are studied and the meaning differences in writing tonguesof these verbs are examined. Furthermore, being cited etymology of edge-tools;bıçak (knife), pıçkı (saw), orak (reaping hook), gezlik (pacetknife) etc, it is urged thatthese verbs are derived fron verbs related to cut.
